Saturday, 10 November - Saturday, 8 December 2012 Totems: In time for holiday shopping Open House The Aboriginal people of Australia's "Top End" have carved utilitarian and ceremonial objects for centuries, creating both simple and complex figures from ironwood and eucalyptus. Today, they are still using traditional decorations including "poker work" (patterns burned into the wood) and ancestral designs painted with natural ochres. Booker-Lowe is the leading American gallery for contemporary Aboriginal fine art from Australia. We're open Wednesday-Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm, and by appointment at your convenience. We stock hundreds of paintings and original prints from under $250 to $25,000, and can source Aboriginal artworks for those with special requirements. |
