OPENING RECEPTION:

5:30-7:30 pm

Booker-Lowe Gallery is pleased to present Rare Finds, an exceptional collection of contemporary Australian Aboriginal paintings from the central desert, Tiwi Islands, and Arnhem Land.

What makes this collection unique? It’s the mix of "big names" in the Aboriginal art world – including a classic Minnie Pwerle "Yam Dreaming" with bold strokes of color, and Gloria Petyarre’s signature swirling "Bush Leaves" paintings. There are also colorful abstracts by Abie Loy Kemarre, and the more traditional dotted designs of Anna Price Petyarre and Polly Napangardi Watson.

Senior Aboriginal law man Shorty Jangala Robertson is renowned for his "Water Dreamings," and Mildred Lorenzo's captures the Tiwi Island traditions in ochre patterns. The exhibition also includes intricate bark paintings with complex raark designs by two of Arnhem Land’s best-known artists, Johnny Bulun Bulun and David Malangi, as well as other works.

Whether you are already a devoted collector, have just developed an interest, or are curious about contemporary Australian Aboriginal art, please join us for Rare Finds and experience the diversity that distinguishes this world-acclaimed art movement!

Booker-Lowe offers the largest collection of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island paintings and fine art prints for sale in the Americas. Paintings are priced from under $300. to $20,000. and up.
