Saturday, 27 April – Friday, 12 July 2013 Desert in Bloom Summer in Australia's harsh central desert brings almost unbearably hot temperatures. The endless red earth dries and cracks; the grasses and trees wither. Eventually, the air fills with moisture, generating heat lightning that in the good years, heralds the “wet,” or rainy season. When the wet comes, the desert bursts to life in a profusion of colors and patterns. Working in painstakingly tiny dot patterns, the artists of Ampilatwatja capture the vibrant palette of this ancestral country in bloom on Belgian linen, creating timeless landscapes filled with wildflowers that never wilt! Booker-Lowe has worked closely with this remote community for years, and is pleased to present Desert in Bloom, an outstanding collection created especially for us. Summer Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm Booker-Lowe is the leading American gallery for contemporary Aboriginal fine art from Australia.
