Gallery Artists from Yuendumu, Lockhart River, and Beyond
Booker-Lowe is currently showing new works by Warlpiri artists from Australia’s Tanami Desert and Lockhart River painters from the Cape York Peninsula in far northeast Queensland. These paintings reflect their ancestral country and culture in vibrant colors and detailed patterns.
We are also thrilled to feature a handful of new paintings created just for us by Lockhart River's acclaimed artist Silas Hobson. His distinctive style with elongated fluid spirit figures floating on rhythmic backgrounds has earned him recognition from critics and collectors. Houston Press writer Kelly Klaasmeyer said of his work, "Silas Hobson uses saturated color and loose dripping lines that wink at Jackson Pollock."
The gallery is open 11 am - 4 pm, Wednesday through Friday, and by appointment.
Booker-Lowe is the leading American gallery for contemporary Aboriginal fine art from throughout Australia. The gallery is open by appointment and for special events. We stock hundreds of paintings and original prints from under $300 to $35,000, and often source Aboriginal artworks for those with special interests or requirements. |
